Vanilla Creme Brulee

Delicious, yet very simple to make, this recipe will have your guests begging for more.

Delicious Creme Brulee.


Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 35 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients
3 egg yolks
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup cream
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon white sugar

Method
  • Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 150 degrees Celsius. Place a rack at the bottom of the oven.

  • Step 2
  • Whisk egg yolks, 1/4 cup sugar and vanilla in a bowl until smooth.

  • Step 3
  • Bring cream to boil in a saucepan and slowly simmer.

  • Step 4
  • Pour creme into the egg yolk mixture and whisk continually until combined.

  • Step 5
  • Pour the mixture into ramekins. Put the ramekins in a large oven proof dish, poor cold water into the dish (about 3cm high). Bake the mixture for 30 minutes.

  • Step 6
  • Take out of the oven and let cool. Now place in fridge for about 2 hours or overnight.

  • Step 7
  • Before serving the dessert, sprinkle mixture of brown and white sugar over each ramekin and caramelise with a gas burner or under the grill in a very hot oven.

    Tip: Tastes delicious with fresh cream, ice cream or biscotti
