Vanilla Creme Brulee
Delicious, yet very simple to make, this recipe will have your guests begging for more.
Delicious Creme Brulee.
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 35 minutes
Makes: 4 servings
Ingredients
3 egg yolks
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup cream
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon white sugar
Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 150 degrees Celsius. Place a rack at the bottom of the oven.
Step 2
Whisk egg yolks, 1/4 cup sugar and vanilla in a bowl until smooth.
Step 3
Bring cream to boil in a saucepan and slowly simmer.
Step 4
Pour creme into the egg yolk mixture and whisk continually until combined.
Step 5
Pour the mixture into ramekins. Put the ramekins in a large oven proof dish, poor cold water into the dish (about 3cm high). Bake the mixture for 30 minutes.
Step 6
Take out of the oven and let cool. Now place in fridge for about 2 hours or overnight.
Step 7
Before serving the dessert, sprinkle mixture of brown and white sugar over each ramekin and caramelise with a gas burner or under the grill in a very hot oven.
Tip: Tastes delicious with fresh cream, ice cream or biscotti
