Easy Toad In The Hole

Toad in the hole is a traditional English recipe of sausages surrounded by batter. It is a favourite in our house and is made often, especially on cold nights when you are looking for something warm, delicious and filling.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 55 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients
8 sausages
200 g plain flour
1 1/3 cups milk
2 large eggs
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 tbs oil

Method
  • Preheat oven to 220C.
  • Add the oil and sausages to a baking dish and bake for 15 minutes or until sausages are browned.

  • While the sausages are baking, add the remaining ingredients to a bowl and whisk well until batter is smooth. Allow to rest until the sausages are browned.

  • Remove baking dish from the oven and pour the batter over the sausages. Bake for 35 - 40 minutes until the batter has puffed and become golden.
