Fish Gratin With Creamy Garlic Sauce
Inspired by the fish gratin on the menu where I work, I decided to create my own version at home, which is made with a creamy garlic sauce. I used plaice and bassa for this recipe, but you can use any combination of white fish that you like.
Preparation Time: 40 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients
250g bassa fish fillet
250g plaice fish fillet
1 fennel bulb
100g cherry tomatoes
3 garlic cloves
50g margarine
50g plain white flour
600ml almond milk
50g red leicester
50g cheddar
140g wholemeal bread
Method
Melt the margarine in a sauce pan and then stir in the flour to create a ball.
Gradually stir in the milk and stir continuously to form a thick smooth sauce.
Remove from the heat, dice the garlic, and stir in.
Pre-heat the oven to 180 & #3872 ;C/ 160 & #3872 ;C fan/ 375 & #3872 ;F/ 5 Gas.
Chop the fish into pieces and line in a baking dish.
Slice the tomatoes and layer on top.
Blitz the fennel in a food processor and layer on top.
Pour over the sauce.
Blitz the bread in a food processor so that it turns to breadcrumbs, then sprinkle over the top.
Grate the two cheeses and sprinkle over the top.
Bake for twenty minutes.
