Sometimes a burger doesn’t cut it and you don’t have time to marinade a steak, but you’ve got a hankering for beef. The Garlic Cheese Steak Sandwich is the answer. It’s quick, flavourful and the perfect meal for lunch or dinner.

Makes: 4 sandwiches
Ingredients
1 red pepper
½ white onion
3 garlic cloves
300g stir-fry cut beef
½ tsp oregano
½ tsp basil
4 Kaiser buns
4 marble cheddar cheese slices

Method
Prepare the vegetables by coring and slicing the red pepper, slicing the half onion and peeling the garlic.
Cut and butter the Kaiser buns.
Layer half of each Kaiser with the cheese slices.
Fry the beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned.
Add oregano, basil, red pepper and onion.
Use a garlic press to add the garlic to the beef and veggie mixture.
Continue to cook over a medium heat for five minutes or until the veggies are sautéed.
Toast the Kaiser buns in a toaster oven. Buns can be toasted in a conventional oven at 375 for five minutes or until the cheese has melted.
Divide the beef and veggies onto the four toasted Kaiser buns.
