Gluten Free Sloppy Joes

Posted 2014-10-22 by Kate Matefollow
An American favourite the sloppy joe. I remember seeing it on an Adam Sandler movie for the first time many years ago, and today wondering what I could make with my beef mince, I came up with my own version. Using what I had on hand. Hope you like it this way.

My Sloppy Joe

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 minutes
Makes: 3

Ingredients
250 grams beef mince
1/2 cup grated tasty cheese
1 cup of tomato pasta sauce (I used tomato and red wine sauce)
1 packet of gluten free long bread rolls
2 tablespoons olive oil for cooking

Method
  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  • In a large fry pan add oil and heat on high.
  • Add beef mince and cook until browned.

  • Cook beef until browned

  • Turn off the heat and add in pasta sauce. Mix well and set aside.
  • If your bread rolls are frozen, defrost for around 20 seconds to make it easier to cut them.
  • Cut a slit down the middle of your bread rolls and gently open up the middle to make room for the mince.
  • Spoon in the mince and top each one with grated cheese.

  • Top with cheese

  • Place on a baking tray and bake for 5 minutes.
  • Bake for an extra 1-2 minutes if your bread rolls are frozen.
  • Take out of the oven and serve immediately.

  • The gluten free bread rolls you can buy at the supermarket
