Golden syrup and choc chip cookies

This is a fantastic recipe for delicious, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside cookies. They are super quick which makes them a great treat for getting the children involved with.



Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15-20 minutes
Makes: 10-12 servings

Ingredients
100g of golden syrup sugar
100g of butter
1 tbsp of golden syrup
75g of self raising flour
50g chocolate chips
Another 75g of self raising flour


Method
  • Pre heat oven to 180 centigrade, 200 for fan ovens. Cut and lay a piece of baking paper on a large baking tray.
  • Mix the butter and sugar to form a thick paste and then stir in the golden syrup.


  • Fold in 75g of flour and then mix in the chocolate chips.

  • Fold in the remaining 75g flour until you have a malleable dough. I find using my hands to really blend the ingredients gives the best results, it's also easier than using a spoon.

  • Use your hands to divide the dough into 12 equal balls. Place on the baking tray and gently push down on each ball to flatten slightly. Make sure there is a little spreading room for each blob.

  • Cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
  • Leave them to cool for 5 minutes as they need to harden a little which can't happen until the heat is removed.
