Hoisin Glazed Salmon Fillets With Honeyed Carrots

Salmon is one of the healthiest fish you can eat, and is also tasty and versatile.

In this recipe I have made a glaze, and actually grilled the salmon so as not to fry, and therefore making it healthier again.

Served here with honeyed carrots, you could also include vegetables of your choice, or a salad. I did not use potatoes as I had eaten chips for lunch that day!

As I was on my own and I did not want leftovers, I made this one for one person however just double or treble the recipe for more.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 1 serving

1 thick salmon steak
tbsp fresh orange juice
tsp honey
tbsp Hoisin sauce

In a small bowl, mix the orange juice, hoisin sauce and honey, and stir.

Pat the salmon dry, and rub with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides.


Spread the hoisin glaze over the salmon steak, leaving a bit to spread on the other side.

Turn on the grill, and grill for about 5 - 7 minutes. Take out of grill, turn, and spread remaining glaze on salmon.

Do not cook too close to the grill

Meanwhile slice the carrot and boil in a bit of water with a tsp of honey in it.

Cook the other side of the salmon till the middle appears opaque.

Do not overcook as it gets too dry

Drain carrots, add a dob of butter, and serve with the salmon

Plated, ready to eat
