Honeyed Cabbage With Pineapple Bean Sprouts Kumara And Red Capsicum

Ready to eat

This is an unusual combination of foods and cabbage can be put together with many things, both sweet and savoury to produce a fine tasting dish.

In this recipe, it has both sweet (pineapple) and savoury.

Eat it as a main meal or have it on the side.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 12 minutes
Makes: 2 servings as a main

Ingredients
1 small kumara
1 small onion, chopped
¼ cabbage, shredded
2 cups bean sprouts
½ medium red capsicum, sliced
220 g can unsweetened pineapple pieces, drained
½ tbsp hoisin sauce
½ tbsp soy sauce
½ tbsp honey

Method
  • Cut the kumara (sweet potato) into chips; boil or steam until JUST tender


  • Heat oil in a frypan or wok, add onion and cook for about 2 minutes or until onion is soft.


  • Mix the soy, hoisin, and honey to a smooth paste.


  • Add the cabbage, sprouts, and red capsicum to the pan, and stir over medium heat for a further 2 minutes.


  • Add the kumara.


  • Stir in the pineapple.


  • Now add the sauce to this.


  • Stir for another few minutes and serve.
