Indian Style Beef Curry

Indian Style beef curry

This is an easy and tasty beef curry from Kerala, a South Indian state. This makes a great combination with rice, fried rice and bread.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

1/2 kg beef
1.5 medium size onion
2 tbsp ginger & garlic paste
2 sprigs of curry leaves
5 cloves
2 cardamon
1stick of cinnamon
1 tsp fennel seed
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp vinegar
1/4 tsp mustard seed
Salt to taste
3 tbsp olive oil

Cut the beef into small pieces. Wash 2 to 3 times and drain.
Chop the tomato and 1 onion into thin slices. Then chop the remaining onion into very fine pieces.

Wash the beef

Add the thinly sliced onion into the pressure cooker.
Add the drained beef, tomato and a sprig of curry leaves into it.
Add cloves, cardamom, fennel seed, cinnamon and salt.
Add ginger and garlic paste.

Now add the turmeric powder and chilli powder into it. Add vinegar into it.

Mix everything well. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Now pressure cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until 3 whistles on medium heat.

Switch off the heat and let it sit until the pressure drops. Then open the cooker and check whether the beef is cooked.

Now heat oil in a pan. Pop remaining fennel seed and mustard seed.

Add the thinly chopped onion into the oil. Saute until it turns golden brown. Then add remaining curry leaves.
Add the cooked beef along with the stock into the pan. Stir and mix well.

Cook on medium heat until all the water evaporates. Switch off the heat.

Have a spicy meal.
