The fish in this recipe can be grilled or baked in the oven. Stuffed fish goes well as a side dish with rice and curry, or with an alcoholic drink such as wine or beer.

Ingredients
2 Butterfish (firm type), gutted and clean
Peppercorn seeds (1/2 tsp)
Coriander seeds (1/2 tsp)
Cumin seeds (1/2 tsp)
Cinnamon stick (1, small)
Coves (1/2 tsp)
Curry leaves (3-4)
Green chilies (2)
Cilantro (1/4 bunch)
Turmeric powder (1/2 tsp)
Red chili powder (1 tsp)
Garlic powder (1/4 tsp)
Vinegar (1 tsp)
Garam masala (1/2 tsp)
Dill (1 tsp)
Oil (1 tsp)
Salt (1/4 tsp)



Method
  • To the cleaned fish add a little salt and set aside while you prepare the stuffing
  • Add peppercorn seeds, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, curry leaves, green chilies, cilantro into a grinder and make a fine paste.
  • To the fine paste, prepared as above, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garlic powder, vinegar, garam masala, dill, oil, salt. Mix well.
  • Cover the fish in the paste and place some inside as well.
  • Grill the fish in the oven at 220C for 30 min (the grilling time will depend on the size of the fish, etc.). Make sure you don’t burn the fish.
  • Fish is ready to serve as a side dish or snack with wine or beer.
