MintCilantro Chutney

Here is a recipe for preparing green Mint-Cilantro Chutney that goes well with Idli, Dosa, Samosa, Batatwada or such delicacies.

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes
Cooking Time: 20 Minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients
For Paste:
1/3 cup Freshly Grated Coconut
4 Green Chilies
1 Cup Fresh Mint
1 Cup Fresh Cilantro
1/3 Cup Yogurt
Cumin seeds (1/ Tsp)
Sugar (1/4 Tsp)
Salt to taste
Water

For Tampering or Tadka:
Mustard seeds (1/ Tsp)
Cumin seeds (1/2 Tsp)
Peas split/Toor dal (1/2 tsp)
Asafetida (pinch)
Curry leaves (3-4)


Method
  • Add all the paste ingredients one by one to a mixer and grind it to make a thick paste or puree.



  • Tadka/Tempering
  • Fry a little oil in a pan and add mustard seeds when the oil is hot, keep on a low flame
  • Add, Cumin seeds, Moong dal, Asafetida and Curry leaves and fry until cooked. Don’t over fry or make it too red


  • Add the contents of the frying pan to Chutney paste from the mixer. Mix well, and serve.
