MintCilantro Chutney
Here is a recipe for preparing green Mint-Cilantro Chutney that goes well with Idli, Dosa, Samosa, Batatwada or such delicacies.
Preparation Time: 10 Minutes
Cooking Time: 20 Minutes
Serves: 6
Ingredients
For Paste:
1/3 cup Freshly Grated Coconut
4 Green Chilies
1 Cup Fresh Mint
1 Cup Fresh Cilantro
1/3 Cup Yogurt
Cumin seeds (1/ Tsp)
Sugar (1/4 Tsp)
Salt to taste
Water
For Tampering or Tadka:
Mustard seeds (1/ Tsp)
Cumin seeds (1/2 Tsp)
Peas split/Toor dal (1/2 tsp)
Asafetida (pinch)
Curry leaves (3-4)
Method
Add all the paste ingredients one by one to a mixer and grind it to make a thick paste or puree.
Tadka/Tempering
Fry a little oil in a pan and add mustard seeds when the oil is hot, keep on a low flame
Add, Cumin seeds, Moong dal, Asafetida and Curry leaves and fry until cooked. Don’t over fry or make it too red
Add the contents of the frying pan to Chutney paste from the mixer. Mix well, and serve.
