Moong Dal Halwa

Moong Daal Halwa is a popular dessert, ideal for the winter season, as it helps to keep the body temperature warm. It is one of the famous delicacies served at the Indian weddings and parties.

Soaking time: 6-8 hours (soak it overnight for better results)
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 to 40 minutes
Makes: 4-5 servings

Ingredients
1 cup moong dal (green gram)
1/2 cup ghee
2 tsp condensed milk
1 cup sugar
1 tsp grated coconut
1/4 cup dry fruits

Method
  • Soak the moong daal in water overnight, drain the water and grind it to a coarse paste.

  • Take a pan and add the above moong daal mixture and melted ghee to it.

  • Stir it continuously on a low flame, till it turns golden brown in colour.

  • Now add condensed milk, sugar and a little hot water to it and allow it to cook. Stir it continuously till all the water gets absorbed.

  • Remove the halwa and garnish it with dry fruits and grated coconut and serve it hot.
