Mozzerella Middle Pork Burger

Beef is normally used for burgers but pork makes a very succulent, tasty alternative. The mozzarella middle is super yummy and adds a nice contrasting texture to the burger. I add tomato puree to the burger mixture as I find it really compliments the mozzarella and adds a little extra flavour.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
Makes: 6 big burgers

Ingredients
750g pork mince
1 onion, chopped
Handful of freshly chopped basil
1 tbsp tomato puree
1 glove garlic, crushed
90g fresh mozzarella

Method
  • Cook the onion and garlic in a little oil for 3 minutes until soft but not browned.
  • Put the mince in a bowl and knead it for a few minutes. Add the basil, tomato puree, onion and garlic and knead for a further couple of minutes.

  • Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions, roll into balls and them flatten to make burgers.
  • Press a dip in the middle of each burger.

  • Cut the mozzarella into 6 equal pieces and add one to each of the dips in the burgers.

  • Remould each burger to cover the mozzarella and then pat into a burger shape.

  • Fry in a little oil in a lidded frying pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked through.
