Mushroom and Bacon Baked Vienna Loaf Dip

Mushroom and Bacon Baked Vienna Loaf Dip

Posted 2017-04-29 by Belindafollow
Everyone loves the warm and cheesy taste of baked dips, but this one is fantastic because it comes in its own edible bowl. Outdoor parties and bbq's would not be complete without a baked dip and a vienna loaf allows extra room so more than one person at a time can access the dip.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Makes: 1 loaf

Ingredients
1 vienna loaf
250 g cream cheese
125 g sour cream
125 g thickened cream
5 mushrooms, diced
150 - 200 g bacon, diced
1 1/2 cup cheese, grated

Method
  • Preheat oven to 180C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Using a serrated knife, cut a hollow into your loaf of bread. Scoop out the bread inside leaving a 1 cm shell. Place remaining bread aside.

  • In a bowl, add the cream cheese, sour cream, thickened cream, mushrooms, bacon and 1/2 cup cheese. Stir to combine.
  • Transfer the cheese mixture into the vienna loaf and top with the remaining grated cheese.

  • Bake for 45 minutes until the cheese is golden on top and the dip is heated right through.
  • During the last 10 minutes of bake time, tear the remaining bread into pieces big enough to dip and add them to the tray in the oven to toast.
  • Serve hot.

  • You can try different flavour combinations in this dip. Instead of the mushrooms and bacon, you could add spinach and feta, tuna and corn, chicken and mushroom or an array of vegetables.
