NoBake Chocolate Slice

NoBake Chocolate Slice

I first discovered this recipe when we were living without a kitchen. No kitchen meant no cooking, but life couldn’t stop and we still needed to eat.

The classic nobake slice

This is a simple recipe with only four ingredients and no cooking required.

Spread with some chocolate icing and decorate with lollies or a sprinkle of desiccated coconut. Easy.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 0 minutes. (3 Hours Cooling Needed)
Makes: 20 servings

Four ingredients how hard can it be

Ingredients
250g packet of plain biscuits (such as Milk Arrowroot or Marie)
¾ cup desiccated coconut
1/3 cup cocoa powder, sifted
1 tin sweetened condensed milk (395g)

Method
  • Line a lamington tin with baking paper.

  • The trick is not to break the bags and have crumbs go everywhere

  • Empty the biscuits into a sturdy snap-lock bag, or two freezer bags. Seal and then carefully crush the biscuits with a rolling pin. It is better to leave some larger pieces.

  • Never use a food processor, you want a mix of small and big pieces

  • Empty the crushed biscuits into a bowl and add the coconut and cocoa. Stir to mix well.

  • Tip the condensed milk in and stir until combined, and there are no ‘dry’ ingredients left.

  • Fingers tend to work better than spoons

  • Spoon into the prepared pan and using the back of a spoon (or damp fingers) press until smooth and even.
  • Refrigerate for three hours or so, or until firm.
