Party Sausage Rolls
Party sausage rolls are a delicious snack that are often served at parties, morning or afternoon teas. Instead of serving the frozen store bought variety sadly lacking in flavour, why not make your own? Home made sausage rolls take very little time to prepare and taste amazing. Your friends will be asking which bakery you bought your sausage rolls from and you can proudly answer with "I made them myself".
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 70
Ingredients
500 g sausage mince
3-4 large carrots, finely grated
1 large onion, finely grated
2 eggs
salt, to taste
4 cups fresh breadcrumbs
5 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
Method
Preheat the oven to 200C and line two baking sheets with baking paper.
Place the mince, carrots, onion, eggs, salt and breadcrumbs into a large bowl, mix together using your hands to make sure all the ingredients are well combined.
Cut each sheet of puff pastry in half lengthways, creating 10 rectangles.
Divide the mixture evenly between each piece of puff pastry, shape it into a log down the middle of each piece leaving 3-4 cm of puff pastry on each side.
Roll up the puff pastry to enclose the filling and place it seam side down on your baking tray.
Using the back of a knife, press 6 indents into the pastry. These lines will be where you will cut the sausage rolls after they have cooked.
Bake for 20 minutes until golden. Cut the sausage rolls along the indents and serve with sauce.
Note: To make your sausage rolls look even more gourmet you could brush the top with a beaten egg and sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top before baking.
