Does the name flaugnarde make you wonder what it is? It's a baked custard, and a really delicious one at that. Flaugnarde may be hard to pronounce but it is easy to make and after you try it, you'll commit the recipe to memory because it's that good.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes
Serves: 6
Ingredients
2 pears, peeled, cored and sliced thinly
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup caster sugar
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup cream
25 g butter, melted
Method
Preheat oven to 170C and grease your baking dish.
Place the flour, sugar, eggs, milk, cream and butter in a large bowl, whisk to combine.
Pour the batter into your baking dish.
Layer the pears on top.
Bake for approx 40 minutes or until the custard is just set. Serve immediately.
The custard will firm up as it cools so it is best to eat this straight away if you like runny custard.
