Pear Walnut and Cheese Crumble

Pear Walnut and Cheese Crumble

This is a recipe that would be great on a Sunday night when you do not feel like cooking much.

Although it has sweet ingredients in it, I have also added some tasty cheese and garlic, and it would therefore make a good snack as well.

I ate it with a savoury meal, however I think it is better suited as a dessert or snack.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 4 half pears

Ingredients
2 large pears, halved
½ cup rolled oats
1/8 cup raisins
1 clove garlic, crushed
Small handful of walnuts, roughly broken up
About 2 - 3 tbsp cheese, grated
50 g butter, melted

Method
  • Preheat the oven to 180°/160° fan forced.

  • Remove the cores from the pears and dig out a bit of the pear flesh so you have a decent size to fill them.

  • Slice a small piece off the underside of the pears so that they sit flat, and put them on a baking tray lined with baking paper, or spray.

  • Combine the oats, raisins, garlic, walnuts and cheese.

  • Wash your hands, and mix the melted butter through this mixture with your hands.

  • Fill each pear half with the filling, pressing it down so you can fit it in.

  • Bake for about 15 minutes or till lightly coloured and soft.

  • I served them with my mince and noodles.
