Perfectly Poached Eggs

There are many ways to cook eggs, scrambled being my favourite. Today I have decided to try poached eggs and I have found it is quite easy to make the perfect poached egg.

Poached Egg with bacon and toast


Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 2 minutes
Serves: 1

Ingredients
1-2 eggs
1 tablespoon of white vinegar
1 large pot of water


Method
  • In the large pot bring the water to the boil.
  • Add in the vinegar and have the eggs ready to go.
  • Using a slotted spoon stir the water fast to make it swirl, this is necessary for poaching.
  • Now quickly crack the egg but gently drop it in to the water.
  • Cooking the egg for 2 minutes will give you a nice medium poached egg


  • Cook the egg for two minutes for the perfect medium poached egg. The yolk will be soft but all the white is cooked.
  • Skim the top of the water while it is cooking.
  • Using the slotted spoon gently lift the egg out, repeat process if you are making two.
  • Serve with toast and bacon if desired.
  • For soft poached cook the egg a little less or a little longer if you want it hard poached.
