Plaited Pork Sausage Roll

A beautiful looking puff pastry always gets me excited about the dish I'm serving. If it looks great, everyone wants to try it. This dish does not disappoint, not only does it look great but it tastes even better.


Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients
500 g pork mince
1 onion, diced finely
1 carrot, grated
2 eggs
2 sheets puff pastry
salt and pepper, to taste

Method
  • Preheat oven to 200C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Add the mince, onion, carrot and one egg to a bowl. Season then mix well.
  • Place half the mince mixture down the centre of each sheet of puff pastry in a log shape.
  • Slice the puff pastry into strands about 1.5 cm wide to the edge of the mince.

  • Starting at the top, plait the pastry down to the bottom of the sausage roll. You can tuck the bottom row underneath the plait, under the roll, or discard it.

  • Whisk the remaining egg and brush it onto the pastry.

  • Bake for 40 minutes or until golden on top and the mince has cooked through.
