Post Gym Steamed Chicken

Post Gym Steamed Chicken

After a work out I can't really be bothered with making fancy, elobrate, or nutrient rich dishes because my body is tired and I need food quickly.

I whipped this immune system enhancing dish after a yoga session and enjoyed every tender bite. I rarely think of chicken when illness strikes, but instead of reaching for the soup, try this protein rich dinner with lemon, tomatoes and ginger, for a tastier way to attack any illness. It will keep you full post workout, and it can cook away whilst you're in the shower.

Preparation Time: 2 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Makes: 1 serving

Ingredients
1 skinless chicken breast
1 slice of lemon
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
3 slices chopped ginger
1 ripe tomato

Method
  • Wash the chicken and place in a sieve on top of a saucepan of simmering water with all of the seasoning, lemon, and ginger.

  • Cover with a lid for 30 minutes. Once cooked it should be 'white'.

  • Add to a plate and slice in half.

  • Slice a tomato and place in the bottom slice of chicken.

  • Carefully replace the 'top' slice of chicken.

  • Enjoy as part of a main meal, side dish, or alone, for a quick, post gym protein snack. The ginger, lemon, tomato, and pepper will boost your immune system too. Win-win all round.
