Prawn and Okra Curry

Most people are of Indian curry and loves to eat them. But, not many people are familiar with tradional 'Bangaldeshi Curry'. This is a recipe for tradional Bangladeshi curry of prawn and okra. I hope you like it as much I do.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Makes: 4 servings



Ingredients
Okra 300 grams
peeled Prawn 1500 grams ( you can add more prawn if you love eating prawns)
2 medium sized sliced onions
1 sliced tomato
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
2 teaspoon of cumin powder
2 teaspoon of ground coriander
2 small chillies split in the middle
1/2 -1 teaspoon of turmeric powder ( depending on your desired color for the curry)
1 teaspoon chilly powder (optional)
3 table spoon of olive oil
1/2 cup of water



Method
  • Sliced the onions and tomato.
  • Wash okra and cut them into small pieces ( as shown in the pic)





  • Heat 3 table spoon of oil in a pan.
  • Add sliced onions and saute until brown.



  • Add tomato and saute until soften.
  • Marinade prawn into ginger and garlic paste, add into the pan and saute until the prawn turns red.



  • Add chillies, okras and all the spices. Saute for another 5 minutes or until there is nice fragrance of the spices cooking.
  • Add Salt and water. cover it with a lead and simmer it until the okra is cooked.
  • Garnish it with coriander if you like.
  • Serve it with rice.
