Crispy Chicken Cutlet with Sweet Soy Sauce

This recipe makes juicy and crispy fried chicken cutlets with sweet soy sauce. It is easy and simple yet it tastes so good with steamed jasmine rice and vegetable that makes it a complete hearty meal.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

4 chicken cutlets
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon white pepper powder
1 egg
1 cup plain flour
steamed jasmine rice, to serve
steamed bok choy, to serve

For the Sweet Soy Sauce
3 tablespoons butter
6 tablespoons kecap manis
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon white pepper powder
1 brown onion, diced

Marinate the chicken cutlets with minced garlic, salt and white pepper powder for 15 minutes.

Heat 1/2 cup of vegetable oil in a frying pan. Crack the egg in a bowl and whisk. Put the flour in another plate. Dip the chicken cutlet in the beaten eggs then coat in flour.

Gently place the coated cutlet in the preheated frying pan. Fry both sides until chicken are cooked and are browned and crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with kitchen towel.

In the same frying pan, melt the butter then add in the diced onion. Cook until they turn opaque and soft.

Add in the soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, salt and white pepper powder. Mix well.

Place the fried chicken cutlet on a plate with steamed jasmine rice and bok choy. Pour over the sweet soy sauce and serve immediately.
