Quick Savoury And Sweet Croissants

Quick, hot and tasty crossiants straight from the oven are a delicacy. These gems are easy to make and filled with ham and cheese or jam they make the perfect breakfast, brunch or lunch. I have included some tasty filling alternatives at the bottom.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
Serves: 12

3 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup ham, cut
1/2 cup grated cheese
1/2 cup jam (I used my [Linkhttp://recipeyum.com.au/guava-jam/51465/ guava jam] but any will do)
1 egg, beaten

  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and line two baking trays with baking paper.
  • Beat the egg and set aside.
  • Cut the pastry in half. Then cut each half into triangles. Repeat with the other sheets of pastry.
  • To make the savoury crossiants, place 1 tbsp ham and 1 tbsp cheese in the middle of the base of the triangle, at the widest end. Allow 1-2 cm free of ingredients. Repeat topping with ham and cheese on half of the pastry triangles.
  • To make the sweet croissants, place 1 1/2 tbsp of the jam in the middle of the base of the remaining triangles, allowing 1-2cm free of jam.
  • Brush the pastry with the egg until completely covered.

  • Roll the pastry starting from the widest end.

  • Squeeze each end of the pastry to seal.
  • Gently curve the pastry in the middle to form a crescent shape.
  • Place the crescents on the baking tray and repeat rolling, sealing and forming crescents with the other triangles.
  • Brush the pastry with the egg and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Take out of the oven and cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

  • Turkey or chicken with avocado, cranberry sauce and cheese
  • Spinach, tomato and ricotta
  • Chorizo or salami, tomato and cheese
