Rice and Tuna Slice with Dill

For this slice I did not have enough white rice so I used up some red rice instead.

I think the white rice would be a bit more sticky and therefore probably better than any other type of rice.

I have mixed tuna with rice, added herbs and eggs to make it set, and to produce a dish that is suitable both hot or cold, and can therefore be prepared ahead.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 8 servings

450 g COOKED rice
3 eggs
cup sour cream (this one is the best)
425 g tuna in oil, drained, flaked
1 cups grated cheese
3 green spring onions, chopped
cup frozen green peas
2 - 3 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
Chili (optional)

Line a 30 x 19 cm pan with baking paper and preheat oven to 200 or 180 for fan forced.

Mix the eggs and sour cream until smooth, in a large bowl.

Add the cooked rice, and flaked tuna to this.


Next add the rest of the ingredients, keeping 1 cup of grated cheese aside for later.


Mix well and season with salt, pepper and some chili if desired.

Spread in the baking dish.

Press down with your fingers

Sprinkle with remaining grated cheese, and cook for about 20 minutes or until firm and lightly golden.


Meanwhile, cook your vegetables about 5 - 10 minutes before this is ready.


Leave slice in pan for about 5 - 10 minutes, slice into squares, and serve with vegetables, or a green salad.

It was very nice with tomato sauce!
