Salted Caramel Popcorn

A delicious sweet and salty popcorn coated in caramel and sea salt. This is what you need for a relaxing movie night!

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

1/2 cup popping corn
5 tbsp oil

Salted Caramel
125g butter, chopped
3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp honey
sea salt flakes

Line an oven tray with baking paper.

Slowly heat up the oil in a pan until the right temperature. To test if the oil is hot enough, add 2 pieces of the corn and wait for it to turns in circle.

Pour in all the popping corn. Cover with a lid and when the corn starts to pop, shake the pan gently occassionally until the corn stops popping.

Transfer the popcorn to a bowl and discard the unpopped corn.

Make the caramel: Place the butter, sugar and honey in a saucepan. Cook on medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

Bring the caramel mixture to the boil, without stirring, leave the mixture to boil until dark amber. Remove from the heat.

Pour the caramel mixture over the bowl of popcorn. Stir immediately with a wooden spoon until the popcorn is coated in caramel.

Transfer the caramel popcorn to the oven tray. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes. Set aside to cool.

Break the popcorn into pieces. Popcorn is ready to serve.
