Semolina Appam

Semolina Appam is also called as Kuzhi Paniyaram in South India. Its a very popular chettinad special recipe



Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 14 servings

Ingredients
2 cups semolina ( Rava)
1 cup curd
1 grated carrot (optional)
1 finely chopped onion
1 pinch asafetida
1/2 tsp jeera
1 pinch turmeric powder
1 pinch red chili powder
1 tsp oil




Method

Take 2 bowls of semolina and add 1 bowl of curd in it.

Add 1/2 glass of water to make a thick paste and keep it aside for 1 hour.



After 1 hour add grated carrot and finely chopped onion it and mix it properly.

Heat 1 tsp oil and add jeera, asafetida, turmeric powder and red chili powder in the above mixture and blend it nicely.

Now take appam pan and apply little oil in the holes, so as to avoid the sticking of the appam paste.



Start pouring the paste in the pan with the help of small spoon.



Turn it with the help of knife or spoon, once it becomes golden brown in colour. Similarly, cook the other side also till golden brown.



Serve the hot and crispy appams with tomato sauce or green chutney.

Hi Regin,
Ingredients like asafoetida , curd, jeera you will get in any Indian store. I got the appam pan from India. But I think you can get it in Ikea aswel.
