Shakshouka Eggs

In Israel the word shakshouka is synonymous with breakfast. This wonderfully aromatic meal is a one-pan recipe consisting of eggs baked in a tomato sauce spiced with cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper.



Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 1 serving

Ingredients
1 cup tomato sauce
2 eggs
1 tablespoon feta
1 teaspoon [linkhttp://recipeyum.com.au/chilli-sesame-dukka/?like=1 dukka]
¼ teaspoon ground cumin
¼ teaspoon sweet paprika
& #8539 ; teaspoon cayenne
¼teaspoon salt - more as needed
¼ teaspoon black pepper - more as needed

Turkish bread and bacon (optional) to serve.




Method
  • First make the tomato sauce . If your sauce is already made simply mix in all the spices and pour into an oven safe dish.



  • Gently crack each egg into the pot, nestling them into the sauce.



  • Place the pot into a 210 degree oven and cook for 12-15 minutes.



  • Whilst the eggs are cooking toast your Turkish roll and cook any other sides you desire.

  • Once the eggs are cooked, remove from the oven, sprinkle with feta, [linkhttp://recipeyum.com.au/chilli-sesame-dukka/?like=1 dukka] and herbs and enjoy!
