Spiced Mulled Red Wine

A classic in my household, is the Christmas mulled wine. Full of flavour, body, and fragrance, it is a festive-must. Here's how it's done.

Preparation Time: 2 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Makes: 10 wine glasses


250ml cranberry juice
200ml orange juice
50ml apple juice
10 cloves
1 nutmeg clove
Teaspoon cinnamon
Teaspoon ground ginger
Orange peel
200ml cotes de rhone wine

Pour the juice into a large saucepan.

Peel the orange skin with the cloves.

Add to the saucepan with the rest of the spices.

Pour in the wine.

Add the sugar.

Stir, and place a lid on top. Allow to simmer for 30 minutes.

Remove the lid and strain over a large mug.

Pour into wine glasses.

Awesome! My Auntie usually makes it, so it was really fun trying it out myself! It's definitely a fun experiment!
I'm going to try making some mulled wine this Christmas. It's a little out of place in Australia because we don't really have a cold Christmas, but that doesn't mean it won't be delicious. ;)
