Spicy Onion Fritters

Spicy onion fritters or Onion Pakoda is a delicious tea time snack. This is a very easy to make recipe.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 10 servings

Ingredients
1 medium size onion (thinly sliced)
3/4 cup all purpose flour
2 tbsp corn flour
2 tsp red chillie powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp ssafoetida
2 tsp ginger- garlic paste
3 curry leaves
1/4 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
2/3 cup water
Spring onion to garnish (optional)
Salt to taste
Oil for frying


Method

  • Slice the onion.

  • Prepare the batter. In a bowl mix all purpose flour,corn flour,salt and ginger-garlic paste.



  • Then add chillie powder, turmeric powder and asafoetida into the bowl.



  • Now add the apple cider vinegar, curry leaves and water. Mix well to form a very thick batter.



  • Add the sliced onion to the batter. Mix well, cover and let it sit for 15 minutes.



  • Heat oil in a pan in high heat. Add the onion - batter mixture to oil, 1 tbsp each.
  • Cook until golden brown, flipping the sides. Remove from oil.



  • Garnish with spring onion. Serve hot with tea.
