Steamed Barramundi with Ginger and Spring Onions

Steamed fish is one of the common home cooked fish dishes that you can find in most Chinese kitchens. It is pretty simple and straightforward. Give this delicious steamed Barramundi a try.



Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients
5 slices ginger
5 spring onion, sliced or chopped
1 whole barramundi
3 tbsp sesame oil
3 tbsp light soy sauce
3 tbsp water

Optional:
1 tbsp salted black beans

Method
  • On a microwave safe plate, put half of the ginger slices and spring onions. Then, place fish on top of them. Cover fish with the rest of the ginger and spring onions.



  • In a small sauce pan on medium heat, add sesame oil, light soy sauce, black beans and water for 5 minutes.

  • Pour sauce over the fish


  • Using a steamer/pot, steam fish on high heat for 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Using a fork, poke and see if it goes through. Another way is to check fish's eyeball, whether it has turn white or not.
