I devised these simple sultana pasties one day, after I had left over pastry from making a pie. Knowing I'd never get round to using it if I left it in the fridge for later, and not being one to waste things, I searched around the cupboards to see what I could make. Sultanas were the first thing I found. Based on the brands I used each pasty should be about 156 calories.
Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Makes: 8 servings
Ingredients
150g plain white flour
100g soya butter
75g sultanas
1 tsp light soya milk
2tbsp water
Method
Pre-heat oven to 200 ༠C/ 180 ༠C fan/400 ༠F/6 Gas.
Rub 75g butter into the flour until it is the consistency of breadcrumbs.
Add the water so that it forms into a dough.
Wrap the pastry in cling film and chill in the fridge for ten minutes.
Roll out the pastry and spread 25g more butter over the surface.
Fold the pastry in half three times.
Roll out again, then fold the pastry in half another three times.
Roll out the pastry again and cut the pastry into eight ovals.
Sprinkle the sultanas over one side, the fold the other side over to create a 'D' shape.
Brush milk over the top, and crimp the corners.
Make two slices over the top, then bake.
