Sweet and Salty Skinny Popcorn
[ADVERT]I have never been a popcorn fan - I don't buy it at the cinema, but a close friend was munching on a bag of Metcalfe's 'skinny' sweet and salty popcorn recently. They say opposites attract, and it's true, it was delicious and low in calories. For a snack that's less than 100 calories (per 50g), and full of fibre, try my sweet and salty 'skinny' popcorn that will beat the sugary, overpriced stuff you buy at the movies.
Preparation Time: 1 minute
Cooking Time: 5 minutes
Makes: 200g
Ingredients
200g popping corn
3 Tblsp Sunflower/rapeseed oil
Tsp golden caster sugar
Half tsp sea salt
Required ingredients
Method
Pour the oil into a saucepan and turn the heat to medium - you want it to be warm, but not boiling.
Pour all of the popcorn in and place a lid on immediately.
Hold the saucepan handle, and lid, and 'shake' the saucepan every few seconds to ensure every corn is 'popped'.
Keep shaking until the last 'pop' of corn, turn off the heat and carefully remove the lid.
Transfer the popcorn to a large enough bowl.
Pour the popcorn into a large bag (I saved a popcorn bag for this purpose), along with the sugar and salt.
Hold the bag tight at the opening and shake for 30 seconds.
To keep the popcorn as close to the Skinny Topcorn brand I weigh it to make sure it was exactly 80g of goodness.
Loosen your grip, and give them a try.
Serve in a bowl at home, or if you're going to the cinema take your skinny popcorn along with you.
