Sweet Millet Balls

This is made from 'Finger millet' flour. It is a rich source of protein, Calcium, Iron and Vitamins. This recipe can be a nutritious snack especially for kids.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes for rolling the balls
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 12-13 pieces

1 cup Finger millet flour (also called Ragi flour, this will be available in any Indian store)
5-6 tsp clarified butter (ghee)
1/2 cup castor sugar
Assortment of chopped dry fruits (raisins, almonds, cashews)

This flour, once cooked resembles chocolate and is easily loved by kids.

In a non-stick pan, take ghee. Once it is heated, add the millet flour.

Mix well and keep stirring. Keep it on low heat throughout.

Once the flour gets completely incorporated in the ghee, add the chopped dry fruits. Continue stirring.

In about 15minutes, you will notice the ghee coating the mixture and entire mixture forms a shiny brown mass like molten chocolate. Also an aroma will start wafting from the pan.

Switch off heat and transfer to a plate. Let it cool down, but not completely.

Whilst it is a bit warm, add the sugar and mix properly with your fingers.

Roll balls between your palms.

You may coat the balls with dessicated coconut to add that extra effect.
