Taiwanese Braised Minced Pork on Rice

Posted 2016-03-18 by justDeliciousfollow
A very famous street food in Taiwan, also known as Lu Rou Fan. This recipe is normally cooked using pork belly, but today I am remaking the dish using minced pork. The outcome is the same, only faster.

Give this dish a try :)

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Makes: 3-4 servings

Ingredients
700g minced pork
3 eggs, hard boiled and peeled
4 knobs garlic, minced
2 spring onion, tied into knots
10 dried shiitake mushrooms, soak with hot water and diced
1 tbsp five spice powder
2 star anise
2 tbsp cooking oil
Hot water

Sauce:
2 tbsp dark soy sauce
2 tbsp light soy sauce
4 tbsp sweet soy sauce
4 tbsp oyster sauce
10 tbsp Chinese rice wine

Method
  • Heat up oil in a non-stick pan over high heat, add garlic and minced pork. Stir constantly. Cook for about 10 minutes or until most of the water evaporated.

  • Add diced shiitake mushrooms. Mix well

  • Pour the sauce in and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • On a clean pot, put spring onion and eggs in. Transfer pork from the other pot over and cover them with hot water.

  • On low heat, let it simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Serve with steam rice and steam vegetable.
