Tartiflette

Tartiflette

Posted 2014-02-06 by Bastion Harrisonfollow
is a French dish that derives from the word tartifla meaning potato. It is one of France's simpler, more humble dishes, and fits in well with he homely feel of 'mum's English cooking'. Based on the brands I used, each serving is about 296 calories.

Preparation Time: minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes
Makes: 6 servings

Ingredients
750g baking potatoes
6 rashes back bacon
1 onion
140ml soya single cream
240g reblochon cheese
25g light margarine

Method

  • Slice the potatoes (you can peel them if you wish, but I like to keep the skins on), then boil for fifteen to twenty minutes (or until soft), and drain.
  • Pre-heat oven to 220 & #3872 ;C/ 200 & #3872 ;C fan/400 & #3872 ;F/6 Gas.

  • Chop the onion, and fry in margarine for five minutes.

  • Chop the bacon, then add it to the onions, and fry for another five minutes.

  • Chop the cheese.

  • Layer half the potatoes in a baking dish.

  • Scatter half the onions, bacon, and cheese on top.

  • Repeat the layering, and pour cream over the top.

  • Bake in the oven for ten minutes.
