Homemade tomato sauce is gluten free and low FODMAP
This homemade tomato sauce is a great barbecue condiment.

This Tasty Homemade Tomato Sauce is tasty, gluten free and is a great barbecue condiment. The tomatoes and herbs complement each other to make a low FODMAP sauce. It can be used for making pasta and pizza sauce, as a condiment at barbecues, on toasted sandwiches or served with hot crispy chips.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Serves: 1 cup

500g tomatoes, diced
2 tbsp oregano
1 tbsp basil
2 bay leaves
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and cracked pepper, to taste
1/8 cup fresh basil, cut finely

Heat olive oil in saucepan, add tomatoes and stir.
Add bay leaves, oregano and basil and stir for 1 minute.

Tomatoes that are fresh and have a deep red colour have more taste and combine well with the oregano, basil and bay leaves in this sauce.

Add Worcestershire sauce and stir for 1 minute.
Add salt and pepper to taste and simmer the sauce for 45 minutes.

Homemade tomato sauce is gluten free and low FODMAP
The tomatoes smell good as they start to break down and blend with the flavours from the bay leaves, oregano and basil.

Turn off the heat, remove the bay leaves, add fresh basil and cool down for 15 minutes before serving.

Simmering the sauce for 45 minutes will enhance the flavour.
Add 1 finely chopped Birdseye Chilli at Step 1 to make a spicy tomato sauce.
This sauce can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for 3 days.
