Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl

This Japanese inspired dish is easily prepped and capable of feeding the whole family. The dish is a combination of full flavour and easy stir fry.

Preparation Time: 15-20 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 4

Ingredients
Pan Contents
3-4 pieces of sliced chicken (Breast or Thighs)
1 cup rice
2 cups water
1/2 cup broccoli
1 sliced red Pepper
1/2 cup shredded cabbage
1 cup sprouts
1 tbsp sesame seeds
pinch of salt & pepper

Teriyaki Sauce
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp rice wine
1 tbsp, plus 2 tsp brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
2 tbsp minced ginger

Method
  • Season chicken with salt and pepper.
  • Slice and cook the chicken in a pan on medium.

  • Pour rice into a cooking pot, add water, and let it come to a boil.
  • In a separate bowl add: soy sauce, water, rice wine, brown sugar, white sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger. Mix the ingredients together to create the teriyaki sauce. Set is aside.
  • Slice red pepper, cabbage, and broccoli and add them to the pan containing the chicken. Stir the pan thoroughly.

  • Add sprouts into pan containing the chicken. Stir the pan throughly.
  • Raise the heat of the pan to high, add sat and pour the teriyaki sauce into the pan.

  • Stir the contents of the pan thoroughly.
  • When finished, pour the rice into a separate bowl, and add the pan contents over top off the rice.
  • Top the dish with sesame seeds sesame seeds.
