Teriyaki Spiced Chicken

This chicken has a very unusual and interesting taste - it is spicy but not hot spicy!

It is quite easy to make and will appeal to those of you who do not like a lot of fussing around when making a meal.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes
Serves: 3

About 600 g of chicken breast
½ cup ketchup
2 tbsp brown sugar
1½ tbsp vinegar
1 tsp dried mustard
1½ tbsp teriyaki sauce

Preheat the oven to 180°/160° fan forced.

Mix the ketchup, brown sugar, teriyaki sauce, vinegar and powder mustard.


Using a baking dish (about 20 cm), spray with cooking spray.

Put half of the sauce into the bottom of this dish.

Put the chicken breasts on top of the sauce, and pour the rest of the sauce over the chicken.


Bake for 35 - 40 minutes or until the chicken is done, but do not overbake or the chicken will get tough.

The sauce should have thickened slightly.


Put the chicken on the serving plates and spoon some of the sauce over each one.

Serve over rice or potatoes, however I served it with my cold noodle salad, and let the sauce go into the salad.
