Tzatziki is a refreshing, flavour-full mix that can be used with pita or bread as a dip, or as a tasty sauce. The name originated from a Turkish word ‘cacik’ which means chutney.

Delicious tzatziki, ready to devour

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Chilling Time: 30-60 minutes
Makes: 24 servings

Ingredients
185g plain Greek yoghurt
90g cucumber
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 clove of garlic, or half a teaspoon of crushed garlic
Salt and pepper
1 tablespoon mint

Method

  • Place the yogurt into a mixing bowl.

  • Greek yogurt


  • Grate cucumber.

  • Mix the grated cucumber into the yoghurt.

  • Mixing the cucumber and yoghurt to form the base of the tzatziki


  • Add lemon juice, salt and pepper, and garlic (either crush a clove of garlic and use this, or place a half teaspoon of already crushed garlic into the mix).Mix thoroughly.

  • Adding more flavours
    Almost complete


  • Add mint and stir through (chopped fresh mint can be used if available, or you can use mint flakes).

  • The mint will boost the dips flavour even more
    Tzatziki is ready


  • Cover the tzatziki in cling wrap and refrigerate for 30 to 60 minutes to allow the flavours to develop.

  • Covering the tzatziki to chill


  • Serve with bread or pita, or as a sauce.

  • The finished product. Yum
