Walnut Croutons

Croutons make a delicious accompaniment to soup, and make salads that little bit more exciting. Not only are they quick and easy to make, but it is also a great way to use up leftover bread. Based on the brands I used each portion is about 92 calories.

I cooked these croutons using a T-Fal Actifry , but if you don't have one, then the oven or frying pan are just as good.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 minutes (15 minutes in the oven)
Makes: 6 handfuls

Ingredients
60g walnut bread (you can buy it or make your own )
30g walnuts
1 tsp dried mixed herbs
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp walnut oil

Method
  • If using an oven, pre-heat it to 180C/ 160C fan/ 350F/ Gas Mark 4.

  • Chop the bread into chunk cubes.

  • Break the walnuts into small pieces.

  • Put them in a bag and add the herbs and salt, then shake the bag to mix it all up.

  • Pour the walnut oil into the bag and shake.

  • Cook the bread in the Actifry, oven, or frying pan.
